SAMURAI JEANS S3000VX25OZ MUSASHIBOU BENKEI

It’s not Samurai Jeans if you’re not served some awesome Japanese history ⏤ this time Samurai Jeans sheds a light on a Buddhist with a rogue twist. Saitou Musashibou Benkei is respected throughout Japan as a monk, a Yamabushi (a mountain hermit), and later in life a rogue warrior.

Musashibou Benkei lived in the Heian period with a colorful past life. Known as an incredible fighter, it was rumored that he beat 200 soldiers in each battle and ended up known as Oniwaka (demon child). At this period of time, monks were not just vital for administration and culture, but they were also involved in the military, and Benkei was trained for using Naginata, the Half-Moon Spear weapon.

But Benkei wasn’t only carrying Naginata, he also carried 6 other weapons into battle: Masakari (a broad ax), Kumade (a rake), Nagigama (a sickle), Hizuchii (wooden mallet), Nokogiri (a saw), Testubou (an iron staff), and Naginata.

It doesn’t stop there. These jeans are the living being of how tough warriors can be, the denim tells a story of how a frail and insignificant-looking Samurai can finally defeat Benkei, twice! And had Benkei as a companion for the war until his death in 1189 ⏤ translates perfectly for Japanese denim: denim always seems like any other jeans, but once we discovered how tough, how incredible the neps and slubs, and you just can’t stop the obsession.
