A nameless guy who likes bikes and wears denim by accident (literally).
We received this email from the other day, and thought this is a good time to tell you a good denim story. Here’s his story:
I am no denimhead, I can assure you that. I don’t really dream, breath, and eat denim but I do love wearing jeans — they’re simple, last a long time, and just perfect for my daily life as a biker.
The pair I’m using here RS1 15oz Retro Slim from Tanuki is one I stumbled upon while browsing through Denimio. I don’t really have that extreme expectation of jeans — I find the pairs with the best cut and I’ll use them until I ‘break’ them. And before I realized it, I’m starting to collect more jeans over the years — starting from a couple of pairs of Tanuki then branching out to other brands.
I also love bikes — strolling around the hills with it and feeling the rush gush of the wind throughout. I was taking my bike up a challenge to ride hills up, it’s kind of small for an SUV but enough for my motorcycle to swerve and hike up to. It was the kind of weather you’d want to ride in, I’m sure — the sun was gone at 4 PM, an easy breeze to combat. A bit gloomy but no signs of rain to pour.
While I’m fighting the gravity of the wind, this happened.
I lost control of my bike and slipped to the side of the road.
My Glory Fall.
I was riding up with my friends thus the pictures and the damage were definitely done.
Damage were done.
I was in a little shock but in no pain besides probably some kinds of bruises all over (thankfully, my body is well protected under thick jackets). I remember going knee first into the asphalt and expected this burning on my knees.
My friends helped me up but there wasn’t really anything — apart from getting up confused.
And I was legit surprised looking down on my legs. This is going to look like a nightmare, I thought.
But there was nothing, not even a single drop of blood (asphalt and skin doesn’t go smooth over, in most of the times I got my accidents in). Let the pictures do the talking:
You can see that I’ve worn the jeans for quite some time, looking at them fades and folds.
Fades starting to develop all over the jeans and I expected the fabric to be much less thick and its warp weft threads to come a bit loose at this point.
