With many denimheads looking for that “one” pair of jeans is always a difficult task. Fading raw denim takes a lot of time, effort and love, and thus it is best to wear one pair at a time to get the best wear and fade results one can achieve.

My latest find: the ONI 299GC KHN. Before ending up with ONI 299GC KHN, I had many different pairs in my head and looked closely into all of them. I love vintage fits and vintage fabrics (I have a pair of TCB Jeans 50’s and 4 more Viapiana custom jeans in my collection), but this time I was looking for a combination of a more modern fit with vintage feeling fabric. It is quite difficult for me to find a pair that fits well because of my body-type. I have a slim waist with large thighs (and behind!).

Because I continuously second-guess my size choices, and as a customer of Denimio, I asked Peter for a recommendation. He helped me compare several pairs — from Pure Blue Japan, Momotaro Jeans, Japan Blue, to, finally, ONI Denim. The pair that struck me most was the ONI Denim Green Cast Kihannen fabric. Since they were only released in 2015, I couldn’t find many pictures of them, even after extensive Googling. Nevertheless I felt that this was going to be something different for me, so they became the “one”: my current pair in heavy rotation.

The green cast and the indigo dye color in this pair are the perfect combination. The straight cut from ONI Denim looks exactly like the pair of Viapiana I have which were custom made for me! Even though ONI calls this a “regular straight”, this pair fit like a modern slim straight for me. I decided to pick the ONI Denim 299GC KHN for my next jeans.

As this is my first pair of ONI Denim, they totally caught me off guard. The fit, feel, details, design, and even the smell is different from any other beast I have had or have tried on. They were cardboard-stiff and, I will admit, it was a pain to wear them the first few times. However, I connected with them, they fit me like a glove and I knew that I would wear them to shreds. I also decided not to wash them much (unless it becomes unbearable for people around me!). If only it was not as hot and humid here in Thailand, this pair would probably not touch a single drop of water.

After wearing them for two months straight, I have to say these are one tough pair of jeans. The slubbiness, roughness, and rigidness in the first week might feel different from most vintage jeans but after breaking them in, they’re one of the most comfortable jeans I have. The weight of 16oz doesn’t really feel hot at all for the climate here in Bangkok, Thailand. I often pair them with sneakers, chukka boots, trampling boots, or even sandals such as Birkenstocks. I have lifter legs with 13” thighs, and they fit quite well without being too big or small.

For the value, it is a great jeans for anyone who is looking into a nice green cast vintage fabric with a modern feel of slubbiness in them. The cut is just right with a medium rise, comfortable thigh, and a modern straight leg. Fabric is so great that even though they look like they fade, to me they are “evolving” into one of the best canvas painting of my life.

Из-за дождливого климата в Таиланде, очень сложно сохранить джинсы нестиранными, но потертости придут сами.[:th]สำหรับสาวกยีนส์หลายท่าน การตามหากางเกงตัวที่ “ใช่” อาจจะไม่ใช่เรื่องง่ายๆอย่างที่คิด การเฟดยีนส์สวยๆตัวนึงจะต้องใช้แรง เวลา และความรักในการปั่นแต่ละตัว ในการใส่ยีนส์ตัวที่ “ใช่” ที่สุดนั้นจะทำให้เรื่องราวต่างๆนาๆกับการใส่ยีนส์นั้นเอง

ใหม่แกะกล่อง

ตอนที่ผมกำลังหายีนส์ตัวใหม่ก่อนที่จะมาลงเอยที่ ONI 299GC KHN ผมได้ลองตามหายีนส์หลายตัวอยู่พอสมควร ผมชอบกางเกงที่มีผ้ากับฟิตสไตล์ Vintage (ผมมี TCB Jeans 50’s อยู่หนึ่งตัว และยีนส์ Custom จาก Viapiana อีก 4 ตัว) แต่ตัวที่ผมกำลังแสวงหาตัวต่อไปนั้น ผมต้องการอะไรที่แตกต่างจากเดิม หลังจากที่ลองคิดอยู่นาน ผมอยากลองยีนส์ที่มีฟิตออกแนว Modern แต่ใช้ผ้าที่มีความ Vintage อยู่พอสมควร เอาจริงๆ มันเลือกยากมากๆ ไม่ใช่แค่ผ้าหรือฟิตอย่างเดียว แต่เพราะว่าผมเป็นคนเอวเล็กเมื่อเปรียบเทียบกับต้นขาที่ใหญ่มาก เนื่องจากที่ผมเคยซื้อสินค้าจากทาง Denimio อยู่แล้ว ผมเลยสอบถาม Peter ว่าความเลือกยีนส์ตัวไหนดีหรือมียีนส์แนวที่ผมหาอยู่ไหม เขาลองลิสต์ให้ผมมาหลายตัวไม่ว่าจะเป็น Pure Blue Japan, Momotaro Jeans, Japan Blue, และในที่สุด ONI Denim ในทั้งหมดที่เขาได้แนะนำผมมา ผมรู้สึกว่าผ้า Green Cast Kinhannen จาก ทาง ONI Denim นั้นใช่สุดๆ ผมเลยลองหาข้อมูลเพิ่มเติม แต่ก็ยากอยู่พอสมควรเพราะมารู้ทีหลังว่ากางเกงที่ใช้ผ้ารุ่นนี้นั้นเพิ่งเริ่มขายช่วงต้นปี 2015 ยังไงก็ได้ผมเห็นแล้วชอบสุดๆ ตั้งแต่สีของผ้า ความ Green Cast ถึงทรงกางเกง Regular Straight เหมือนยีนส์สมัยก่อนจริงๆ ผมเลยตัดสินใจสั่งซื้อ ONI Denim 299GC KHN สำหรับยีนส์ตัวต่อไป

ทรงนี้แหละ ใช่สุดๆ

หลังจากที่ใส่ลุยเต็มๆมาสองเดือน ผมสรุปได้เลยว่ายีนส์ตัวนี้ถึงสุดๆ ตอนแรกที่ได้มานั้นจะแข็งมากแต่ก็รู้เลยว่าทนทานจริงๆ ยีนส์ตัวนี้ขอบอกเลยว่า Slubby มาก หยาบมาก และถึกสุดๆ ถึงแม้ว่ายีนส์มีความ Vintage อยู่มาก ช่วงอาทิตย์แรกที่ใส่ ผมรู้สึกถึงความแข็งและความถึกของเจ้ายีนส์ตัวนี้จริงๆ หลังจากที่ใส่มาเรื่อยๆ ไม่น่าเชื่อแต่ก็จริงๆ ยีนส์ตัวนี้เริ่มนุ่มมากและเป็นหนึ่งในกางเกงที่ผมใส่แล้วรู้สึกสบายที่สุด ถึงแม้ว่าผ้าจะมีน้ำหนักถึง 16oz แต่ก็ไม่รู้สึกร้อนเลยเมื่อใส่กับอากาศหน้าร้อนของเมืองไทย รู้สึกว่าด้วยทรงขาตรงของยีนส์ตัวนี้ ผมจะใส่คู่กับรองเท้าอะไรก็ได้จริงๆ ไม่ว่าจะใส่รองเท้าแตะ ผ้าใบ บูท ก็เข้าหมด ฟิตถือว่าดีมาก ผมมีช่วงต้นขาประมาณ 13″ ซึ่งยีนส์ตัวนี้ไม่ได้ทำให้ดูใหญ่หรือเล็ก แต่พอดีจริงๆ

ความ Slub และ Detail ต่างๆของยีนส์

โดยรวม ผมพอใจกับยีนส์ตัวนี้มาก ยีนส์ตัวนี้ได้ใส่จริง 2 เดือนและผ่านการซักมา 1 ครั้ง ผมตั้งใจจะใส่ยำจนเลอะไปเลยจริงๆสำหรับตัวนี้และเชื่อว่าคุ้มกับราคาที่ซื้อแน่นอน สำหรับใครที่ชอบยีนส์ที่ใช้ผ้าแนว Vintage พร้อมผ้าที่มีความ Slubby สูง ตัวนี้แหละใช่เลย

หลังซักครั้งแรก ความ Slub ของกางเกงก็โดดออกมาให้เห็นอย่างชัดเจน

ท้ายที่สุด สาเหตุที่ผมต้องซักกางเกงเร็วไปหน่อยก็เพราะผมใส่ลุยจนแฟนผมทนกลิ่นไม่ไหวจริงๆ ถ้าไม่ติดว่าเมืองไทยอยู่หน้าฝนและผมไม่โดนฝนมากเท่าไหร่ ผมคงมีโอกาสได้ตากแดดให้กลิ่นมันน้อยลงบ้าง แต่อย่างไรก็ตาม การใส่ยีนส์ลุยๆในเมืองไทยถือเป็นหนึ่งในการเฟดยีนส์ที่ดีที่สุด บางครั้งก็ต้องยอมคนรอบข้างบ้างถ้าเขาทนกลิ่นไม่ไหว แต่รับรองเลยว่าผมใส่ไปเรื่อยๆ ต้องเฟดสวยแน่ๆ[:]
